UPS accepts hazardous materials for ground transportation in the 48 contiguous United States under certain conditions:
Contract basis - UPS only accepts hazardous materials on a contract basis, except for lightly regulated goods.
Packaging - UPS requires that all packages, including those containing hazardous materials, be capable of meeting the requirements of the ISTA Procedure.
Chemical compatibility - A maximum of three chemically compatible hazardous materials can be in one package.
Handling charges - A hazardous materials service handling charge of $48 is applied per package to all hazardous materials/dangerous goods packages that require a shipping paper or Shipper’s Declaration for Dangerous Goods.
